What about plain old pepper spray? I'm sure you have thought of this, but it works great.
The canes and umbrellas are good too, but the Cold Steel is pretty obvious to anyone who knows their knives. Yes, BG's buy cold steel products. (I worked in knife stores for nearly a decade)
Congrats!
"The best compliment to the Warrior is that others feel safe while you are around." I would add especially if they REALLY ARE safe when you are around.
I would have pepper spray anyways - a 4 ounce Fox
The cane tho well - I am sure Cold Steel stuff is a bit ''recognizeable'' but OTOH with my age, salt'n'pepper hair and very white beard - plus not too good a fluidity with walking, I would doubt it would so obvious as a ploy.
I shall be ''distressing'' it a bit so as to not look so darned brand new! Any volunteers??![]()

HEY take a page out of LOTR when they tried to take Gandalf's staff. just say "would you part an old man from his walking stick?". later you can see that he wasn't as old and decrepit as they thought. So what brings you to Illannoy P95Carry (storm crow)? :P

Not trying to highjack your thread & I think you already said you've ordered the walkabout, but I wonder if that African walking stick can get onto airplanes & stuff?
I liked the fact that it didn't have anything written on it, made out of a material that's pretty much indestructable (Had a baton made out of the same stuff, I believe) & doesn't look like a baseball bat. The walkabout kind of does & you'd probably need to replace the metal end-cap to get it on a plane.
I'm contemplating those two walking sticks myself...![]()
