New knife - Boker Subcom

Well it's been a few weeks so I bought a new knife.
This time my interest was directed towards the Boker/Magnum Subcom mini folder.
I first saw it on the AG Russel knives website, they had a good price on it at $30 but I took my search onto eBay and found there are a few other options. There is also the Wharcom and the Rescom, a straight edge tanto and a rescue blade respectively. There are also a few color options.
I ended up getting the basic option, non-serrated curved edge with a black grip. It arrived today and I'm impressed.
Very easy to retrieve, open and grip. It will make a fine secondary blade/back-up and also a primary for occasions when my main knife does not adhere to local laws.
I have a bid on a second auction for the same knife in a desert sand color with a partially serrated blade, that one will probably become a gift to my Father-in-Law.
Good knives, good price, recommended.

I purchased one (tan with serrated edge) during the SHOT Show....nice little knife. I carry it whenever I go running and as a backup knife.

The SubCom F is a great little knife. It is far more useful than it may first seem. The designer of this knife is Chad Los Banos, who is a regular over on the Spyderco forums. When this knife first started to become available, I started asking about it and I got an email from Chad asking my shipping address. The next thing I knew, I had a brand new SubComF from Chad along with a really nice note. He is a great guy. Chad is a corrections officer in Hawaii. His is the first Wharncliff knife that I will buy someday. He is also the designer of the Spyderco Lava knife. Here are some pictures of my SubCom F and the Lava.

I had made the connection with the Lava, AG Russell's site is fairly informative, but hadn't seen side by side photos.

Do you have the Wharcom and Rescom by any chance too?

No 0.02, I do not have the Wharcom or the Rescom. I want to get the Wharcom though. A Wharncliff blade in a knife this size would be very useful. Your knife has better steel in it than mine. Yours has AUS-8. The first SubCom F's used 420J2.

there was some guy who did tests with clb's knives over on the spyderco forums.

something about wrapping meat in plastic and shoving it in denim.

if i remember correctly the fixed blade won (big surprise) followed by the wharcom, then the PE subcom AUS8, followed by the subcom CE aus8, and in dead last the original subcom with that metal i dare not type about .

if you want a slightly larger CLB knife that you can't find on bokerusa; but, is made by boker...

CHECK OUT THE TRANCE!!!!!

there is a plain edge one (black partially serated coming out soon). 2.75" blade of aus8 and a wicked flipper/guard. it only costs a few bucks more than the sub/wharcoms. it is gorgeous. check out link below!

I ended up getting both the PE and the CE, although one (not sure which yet) is a gift for my FIL.

I like the Trance but the Subcom filled a niche that none of my other blades filled.
