Brand of OC and place to purchase?
I've read the thread about Fog vs Spray, but I haven't seen a thread about actual brand or where everyone buys.
I'm thinking Fox 5dot3. Thoughts?
I do find it curious that in one place I see that 2 million scoville units is the maximum allowed by law, and that you should get a 15% solution. Then I see the 5.3 million scoville unit Fox. If 2 million is the maximum allowed by law, then what's up with 5.3? And it's only a 2% solution?
Also, anyone know what the other 98% is?
There seems to be 100's of places online to buy OC. I can't seem to find anything on a reputable place. Any hints?
Thanks!
Greg

Greg - do a search and see if you can find a thread from a few months ago - QKShooter gave some useful info and a source. The source I used in fact to get my Fox spray.
Maybe he will chime in later again. Might be hard to find the thread I mentioned. Try a search on ''Fox'' maybe.

Searching now. Unfortunately it won't let me search for "Fox"...
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: fox
I have so far found you mentioning the previous post, but still haven't found the post.
Thanks!

Hi there, Greg!
I am a fan of Fox Labs and have carried it for about two years. As far as ordering goes, if you go onto Ed's (the president of Fox Labs) website (www.foxlabs.net) you'll be able to get a reasoning behind his 5.3/2% spray and order directly from him.
The short answer goes something like this (and please anyone correct any errors I may have):
The SHU's are what makes the spray hot. Using really hot peppers, and having a high SHU index, equals hotter spray.
Percentages (%) means the percentage of the total product that is "heat." The HIGHER the percentage, the LONGER the effects last on the subject.
Also....you need to know what the "filler" is. Many places will put out claims as to the spray's effectiveness, but once their SHU is mixed, it greatly reduces the effect.
As far as Fox is concerned, the 5.3 SHU and 2% means that his stuff is REALLY hot....but that its effects will last for a shorter duration.
Of course...many people have many different ideas about spray. Personally, I also like the fact that Fox Labs doesn't do a lot with marketing/packaging. There's no bears or scared women on any packages...it's just a solid product that works.
Hope this at least starts you in the right direction. Best of luck!
Again...if I've written anything that is incorrect, somebody please correct me. My apolgies in advance.

I *think* I found it, but it was from more than a year ago. Still looking for a more recent one.
Thanks!

Sorry the search is a bit tricky on short words - it is fixed that way to reduce database load.
I am hoping someone else can recall the thread link - or if I find it I'll slip back here with it.

If you have a DPSST card. (department of public saftey standards training) then you can get a high concentration of OC in your spray. I have my card and I carry what the Oregon police carry. Its made by defence tech and its MK-4 stream. I have experianced this stuff before while working security and its really really nasty stuff. But i agree with the others. The best spray to get without a licence is the Fox labs spray! Also check youtube.com there is a video on there of a guy getting sprayed with the fox labs and not being able to stand.

I carry because I care.

I bought my Fox OC from Comp-Tac (you can buy one of their fine holsters at the same time).
