    Ka-Bar TDI Knife

I finally picked up one of those Ka-Bar TDI knives everyone seems to be talking about. Here's the TDI in its factory sheath:

Does it print a lot? Like anything, it will depend on how you cover it. I obtained a streamlined Kydex sheath from Shawn at Shawn's Tactical Speciality:

Shawn's rig is a friction-fit sheath with a rotating J-hook that works quite well and is about as minimalist as you're going to find:

Some shots of the knife with and without its issue sheath:

    It's a natural pointer:

Looks - ''useful'' - I would imagine this is very fast to deploy and so very valuable - way more than My TNT folder that's for sure!

I've been a fan of the TDI knife design since I first got to fondle some of the orignal handmade jobbies while attending classes at TDI a few years back. Very simple and very functional. And the Ka-Bar version is priced right [MSRP is only $40!].

And several vendors are making some nice kydex to go with them, as well, making it an even more attractive piece of kit.:D

Nice blade. I'd pack that one cross draw.

    George,

The TDI guys carry it offside, set up for an offhand draw. The idea is that your knife draw will be a mirror image of your gun draw. They tend to carry it anti-appendix [between the belt buckle and left hip], with the butt facing towards the left hip [for a right handed shooter]. Peter Janda of www.FINdesigns.net, makes the IWB sheaths for them.

    TDI Origin

The actual use devised & invented by world class trainer John Benner was originally for LE"s to use against the gun grab. It quickly eliminates the fight to protect the officers gun while fending off blows by the BG. Just hold your gun with the strong side ,deploy the TDI with the off hand...stab,stab,stab the BG's grabbing arm & he will let go(due to having sliced the extensor muscles of the forearm) not allowing him to make a fist to hold onto the LE"s weapon. Then do what you have to do to render the idiot inert & cuff 'em. BRILLIANT!! When I am not carrying I use it on the strong side, but, when I am I use it the way John originally intended. Stay Safe!

    David1,

Have you had the chance to attend the knife class that John & Greg developed for OPOTA yet?

I have not, but it has been very well received, by all reports.
