German and czech automatic knives are some of the best in the world!
Just remove the .5 inch coil spring it is very simple all you need is a set of small torx tips. Then all you have is a push button lock blade. You can make any boker top lock an automatic if you have the spring.
ALL of the discussion about "what makes a knife a switchblade" really SHOULD be moot. There should not be a legal distinction drawn, because there is no point.
Knives are tools. They can be used for good, or for evil. How quickly or easily a knife can open is IRRELEVANT to its potential lethality!!
If a person has a non-switchblade knife and wants to kill someone, he can always just open it before he approaches the victim, and keep the knife out of view. And what about fixed blades? They are essentially stronger folders that are always open!! Surely they should be more tightly restricted than even switchblades, which although quick to deploy, are closed at least some of the time...
And hey, what about the "new" class of knives growing in popularity: the "Waved" knives? I tell you what, I'll race you on the draw with a switchblade versus my waved Delica. As soon as my knife is drawn from the pocket, it's open and ready for cutting. The oooh-let's-ban-it switchblade is still waiting for its button to be pressed and repositioned into the user's grip. And yet it's switchblades that are unquestioned as "evil" knives that only a criminal would want to have.
Knife laws are every bit as moronic as gun laws.
