    Fix bayonets!

My very sneaky husband found a 16" bayonet for our "new" Winchester 1895. Now I can spear people from the other end of the room.

That grin in the first pic is just too funny, across the room? You can stick someone in Texas with that thing...

    Good find!

You look SO happy! Heck another couple inches that setup will be bigger than you! Guess that does make a nice set.

You need ti find a first pattern Brown Bess musket and put the bayonet on that. I think that WOULD be bigger than you.

Oh please don't stick that thing down our way!

A proper bayonet isn't too easy to find. Your husband deserves an "atta boy".

Wish you could post some close-ups of the bayonet and markings. It'd be good reference to have photos to inspect. That's the kind of stuff that floats my boat.

You know Betty, I've never seen you around town but if you walk about with that one I'm sure I'd notice you...

    That is totally ''wicked'' Betty

I am sure (and you'll know) there was someone in mind when you got that first pic - someone who needed a wee ''prod'' :wink. They'd maybe get the point!

    bmcgilvray,

There's some very good pictures of the 16" bayonet here. Mine looks just like it, and it is very good condition. No scabbard, though.

There's also an 8" version, but it's very rare. This 16" one was hard to find as it was, and not cheap.

    ----

Many years ago I went to a military collector's show and stopped by a booth where the vendor was selling bayonets. I was looking over them and the vendor leaned over to his buddy and said to him (but directed at me), "Every college girl needs a bayonet."

I just looked at him and grinned.

Way too cool! You know that first picture probably explains why the Brady Bunch doesn't want us to have rifles with bayonet lugs. In their world no rational and responsible person could be that close to a fixed bayonet and be happy!

Thanks for the link to the photos Betty.

I think your rifle is way cool with its "modified" butt stock. I hope you can run down an original stock to have to go with the rifle. If I had the rifle I'd leave the stock alone even if I found an original spare.

If I run across a butt stock for a Russian contract '95 I'll holler.
