I bought a tool box at an estate sale this weekend for 60 bucks. I got my money back instantly, it was loaded with hand tools. The reason I listed this here is this knife that was also in the tool box I can't find any info on-line about it. I thought it was kinda cool so I will put it in the collection. I just want to know if it's junk or not. Any help is appreciated.
I also looked on gunsamerica, and other websites, nothing there. So, I broke out the Goode's Atlas of the world and found no town of the undersigned in S. America/Spain. The closest appoximation was a "county" in Cuba 'Ciego De Avila, with a town of the same name in the "county". Of course, spelling and language are open for change and interpretation through the ages.
Lastly, besides metal there is wood. So, this may be of interest. Good luck, keep me posted.
that looks almost identical to a couple that my grandfather bought/carried in Mexico back in the '40's. If nobody here is able to help you out, you might try posting this over at www.totalprotectioninteractive.com or maybe even Bladeforums. I'm sure someone at one of those two could give you some further info.
At any rate, it's a very interesting piece, thanks for posting the pictures.
i googled zavula and came up with " CM Zavula" seems he was a knife maker in mexico. so this may be a direction to run. ebay currently has a blade tagged with zavula and it looks like it may be related to yours.
