I was interested in this knife but I heard from a very good source (cockedlocked01) that they aren't too good.
That said, I haven't handled one - and one man's lemons is another man's lemonade...

I apologize. I think I mistook what knife Pete had asked me about.

The Poliwog is very wide for a small knife, & it's seems even wider because of its small size. It's also fairly heavy for a small knife.

The ball-bearing mechanism works well, once broken in. It really depends on how much you're getting it for, unless you just LIKE it.

Either that or I misquoted, it may have been someone else here, I thought it must be you as we PM back and forth about knives so much...

Yes, I have a Poliwog that was given to me by my brother as a gift back in September.

I don't make a habit of carrying it, mostly because I like it and don't want to lose or damage it.

It is a VERY good knife. One of the kind that they call "LBK" -- "Little Big Knife." Meaning it cuts like a knife larger than what it is.

The Ball Bearing Lock mechanism is one of my favorites. It's simple and reliable. The knife has a stainless steel handle so it is indeed sort of heavy in the pocket (another reason I prefer not to carry it). It's sturdy like you wouldn't believe. The best thing about the knife is that it is a lot of fun to look at and handle, because of how uncommon its appearance and design are.

I probably would not have paid the hundred bucks or so to get it for myself, but I was pleased to receive it as a gift, that's for sure.

I have never owned or held this knife. I am a big Spyderco fan though. I would do a search on the Spyderco forums and you will find lots of info there about this knife.
