Well, there's a link somewhere that shows each states knife laws. But to answer your questions:
No, you can't carry a "billy club" with reach of you in the car. In general, you can not have any kind of impact weapons, no auto knives (A/O's OK), double edged knives, nunchuks, saps, bats, ets. Walking sticks & canes are fine. You can pretty much carry a folding knife of any length blade as long as it's in your pocket. You can also carry fixed blades, but they have to be visible. You can not conceal them in any way.
