    Carry a taser for SD?

There's an outfit called iTaser (www.iTASER.com) that apparently is selling tasers to the public. I think here in the PRC they are illegal (of course!) and I'm wondering if they are legal in ANY states. It sure seems to me like that'd be the cat's meow and would (perhaps) help reduce the chance of being charged with "brandishing" a weapon in a situation where there is clear and present danger but not necessarily a clear cut threat of death or great bodily harm. Wow! That's slicing it pretty thin, huh? Any thoughts?

No way. The TASER is meant to be used with a lethal force back up.

The C2 is nothing more than a way for TASER to extend its customer base.
In DC, MA, RI, NY, NJ,WI MI, HI its illegal.

Cool concept but isn't it it only a one shot?

Yup. Sort of. You have one shot to hit the subject, but you can continue to deliver a charge to the suspect provided you hit him in the first place. You can use it like a standard stun gun too.

I guess it could be an alternative to pepper spray, but I'd rather carry a collapsible baton if it were legal here in PA. The taser is however, legal in PA
I like my solvent and my lubricant for my guns to rhyme, so I use Gasoline and Vasoline.

If it's leagal to do so where you live, there is nothing wrong with carrying one for SD purposes, but it like all defensive tools, have limitations that need to be realized and in this case, I wouldn't want it to be my only choice for self-defense.

As for the "brandishing" issue, Yeah you likely couldn't be charged with brandishing, but if you were to show the taser to someone (in a situation such as you described) and didn't need to actually use it defensively, and there was no other physical altercation, it is possible that you could be charged with attempted assult, or some other such rediculous charge by an over zealous prosecutor.
