That's a good all around functional design, very similar to the old Bowen design which is among my all time favorites.

No, it isn't. RAT (Randall's Adventure Training) is made by Ontario. Randall also started his own company RC (Randall Cutlery), but the RAT line by Ontario is still made. Swamp Rat is with the "Busse" family & more expensive, I believe.
Personally, I think the RAT3 (In either 1095 or D2), is one of the best personal sized fixed blades around (Especially for the money). Unfortunately, my hand is too big for the handle. Their new RC3 fixes that, BTW.
Nice knife & it'll make a great hiking knife.

I am almost positive that the SWAT special addition knife is actually an RC-3 not the RAT-3. They are very similar at first glance but the handle is slightly larger on the RC-3 and it has the glass breaking pummel on the handle. The RAT-3 does not have this.
Both the RAT-3 and RC-3 are products of RAT Cutlery Company. The RAT-3 is manufactured by Ontario for RAT Cutlery Company while the RC-3 is actually manufactured by Randall's new manufacturing partner Rowen Manufacturing. There is a RC-4 and RC-6 and more in the works according to Jeff Randall and his partner Mike Perrin.
If you check out the link in this thread you will actually see that the web site refers to the SWA knife as a RC-3.
I have the RC-3 and REALLY like it. I purchased on for my son as a Christmas gift. He is carries it daily and wears it on his body armorer. He is a Fed LEO. I am looking forward to being able to place my orer for an RC-6 in Feb/Mar.

So true. we must be carfull to refer to the knives correctly to not confuse.
The S.W.A.T. is indeed the RC-3. thanks for pointing that out.
