Good self-opening knife...
Hey all. I currently have a Spyderco with a 4" blade, but it requires me to manually open it, something I am not quick at doing with my non-dominant hand.
Please recommend a nice, large self-opening folder I can carry weak side. Less than $100 if possible.
Thanks.

Do you mean assited (sp) opener? Like spring action? I carry a Spyderco Endura4 strong side which is a wave-opener,so its a "self opener" and all you need is the correct size torx screw driver and is designed to work 100% perfect on weakside as well (I ordered the same exact model to carry weakside, actually.)

Not sure but the Benchmade Axis lock autos have a very nice ambidextrous opening/locking mechanism.

benchmade make several self opening knifes. the only thing i have found wrong with them that they are hard to keep sharp and are hard to sharpen. now the price will not be under the $100.00 that you are looking for. don't know of any self open that will be. also you will need to check your state laws to see if you can carry a self open (switch blade) knife.

Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what it would be called, but I want to be able to push a button with my left thumb and have the blade spring out. If it was ambidextrous, that would be even better.

My benchmades keep their edge pretty well and I can take about 2 minutes to freehand sharpen it back to a razor edge.
You are looking for an automatic.
Kershaw makes an assisted opener that you have to push the blade out so far with resistance before the spring takes over. That would be legal in more places.

Try the SOG Flash II. It's under $100 and is asisted open. ~ 4 inch blade. I am a Spyderco fan big time. I just got the Flash a couple of months ago and it's becoming a favorite.

Kershaw's Ken Onion...Leek (assisted opener)...I carry one in each front pocket...one hand open and close...

Kershaw Blur. I have one with the tanto blade (just under 4 inches) and it is a very nice knife. Very well made, sharp, and available for a good cheap price. I bought mine for about $60 at Wal-Mart. To open, just nudge the thumb stud and the blade flies open.

I'd go with a "waved" Spyderco Endura or Delica. With the "wave" feature, they're even faster than an auto (from the pocket).
here's a vid. I did a couple of years ago to show the wave-opening from both the left and right side.

If you're dead-set on an automatic or assissted-opener, In the price range you listed your main options are SOG, Kershaw (stay away from liner-locks), and Camillus.

I have a Sog Flash II and a Kershaw Avalanche. The only thing I don't like about the Sog is the safety on it. I put a drop of superglue to take care of it and now it's perfect. ha!
