    OC Spray in Washington DC?

I have done some googling and have found a number of sites that say, essentially, OC is legal in DC but must be registered with Metro PD. I haven't found canonical statements of anything about such a registration process.

Can anybody provide some info here?

    Thanks!

Call a criminal defense attorney in DC or call the prosecutors office? I wouldn't take anyone's word for it from an Internet forum anyway. Not something that could get you charged with a crime in DC for sure.

Actually I was just hoping somebody could point out a reference to something official from DC. Unlike most states, I haven't had any luck finding DC's statutes online.

And not that I didn't already know that DC sucks, but the thought that there is a place in this country where I would have to spend money on a lawyer just to find out if freakin' OC spray is legal is just mind-bogglingly infuriating!

Googled "Washington DC Statutes", followed second link for the DC Government Resource Center which has a link to District of Columbia Official Code.

Once you get there, search via link on top right and start looking for "chemical spray" and "self-defense sprays". Of course, how you interpret the statute is up to the local police and prosecutors ;) And read the fine print on the Westlaw site about the currency of the code.

    Here's a starting point:
    C ST § 7-2502.13

Formerly cited as DC ST 1981 § 6-2323

District of Columbia Official Code 2001 Edition Currentness

    Unit A. Firearms Control Regulations.

Subchapter II. Firearms and Destructive Devices.

Are you confident that you have read all the references and understand for certain what this means? ;)
