Opinions On This Knife
the knife I'm interested in is this one: Product Details (Benchmade Knife Company - Premiere manufacturer of knives and rescue tools.)
I want to know your opinions on it, (quality, practicality etc.) and if it would be legal to carry here in Anchorage Alaska. Also, are there different laws regarding what i can carry on campus? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I checked out this link and it seems to state that this knife would be legal to carry, but i doubt a knife with a 4" blade would be legal on campus...

I cannot speak for the legalities of carrying this knife in your area. What I can comment on is that I own the smaller version of this knife. Personally, I do not carry it very often due to the fact that it is very uncomfortable to carry and to use. It does not fit in my hand well in comparison to other knives and for anything other than utilitarian use I would rather carry my Benchmade AFCK or CQC7.
The McHenry Williams is a well made knife. It has held up well for me. I simply feel that there are other designs that work so much better. This of course is my personal opinion.

I carry a multi-tool on campus. Personally I know a bunch of people who carry pocket knives, and its not a big deal. I doubt if the dean saw you he/she would care, with that being said, it is your education and your money... do what you will.

concealed means concealed...
the Griptilian (or any Benchmade w/the axis-lock) is a good choice.

I own a variety of knives made by Benchmade and can attest that all are of the highest quality. So, the bottom line is, if you like the knife, it will be a good knife because it is a Benchmade.

Not familiar with that steel. Can "tool steel" be sharpened?

All steel can be sharpened.
Diamond, carbide, ruby, ceramic, carborundum etc are all harder than tool steel and stones and hones made from those materials will all sharpen tool steel.

D2 is great steel and I use it on my bigger blades. You shouldn't have trouble sharpening it.
