Alright guys and girls I have finally got my HAK Utility knife, and it is some kind of cool.
I got this not as a answer to:well if you don't have a gun, have a good, big knife. I got this as a way to supplement my main line of defense...my gun! I intend to be able to use this to "cut" my way to my gun.
I won't continue with how and why i got this knife i just need some helpful info from people who also own one of these little beauties. I want to carry this indiscretly, but very accesable. Want to have around my waist and be accesable with either hand. To me that means it wil need to be carried in a inside the waistband carrry mode. When and how i figure out to get it there it can be easily hidden by say a cell phone,my shirt, or just probably by the placement of the top of the handle in relationship to the top of my waistband.
Look forward to reponses....this is a great little knife.

RT, I use the Double-J hook for my Hybrid, strong-side, OWB(though it can easily be IWB, just by loosening by belt a bit). If you haven't played with your HAK much yet (haha! ), you'll find that it is equally useful deployed edge-up, so your idea of either hand compatibility is right on- just be aware of the edge orientation.(Upper-cuts for edge-up, slashes for edge down)

I have a rip-cord, and honestly, am not a big fan of it. It does what it is supposed to do, but being in the pocket, is "too deep" for me. (Kind of like carrying with a belly-band, wearing a hip-length turtleneck, tucked in..... ) I want to give the belt-wrap a try, as it is more angle-adjustable.

i love my HAK. i ordered the utility model over a month ago, and has been part of my edc ever since. thank god, because i needed it over a week ago. i got jumped by some freak coming out of a supermarket from behind, and it was out of the sheath instantly. i managed to drive him off, and police got him soon after. and you know the best part? i contacted 'frontsight' to thank her, and praise her ingenuity, and she contacted me by phone to ask what happened, and to make sure i was okay. how's that for customer service? i got nothing but love for her and this knife.

The Hideaway Knife is also featured in Barry Eisler's latest thriller, The Last Assassin. I can highly recommend both the knife and the book.
