What do you use your tactical knife for?

OK, I have this question. Does you knife serve you are a letter opener, box cutter, fingernail cleaner, or string cutter or do you solely keep it razor sharp for Tactical purposes?

I generally have 3 or so knives on me. One "social,", two multipurpose. I don't use my pistol as a hammer...

All of the above, and then some.

I readily admit to being a knife guy, I like knives. I find enjoyment in owning and using them, just as I enjoy owning and shooting my guns..........and, it's not any more difficult to sharpen a knife that's been used (not abused) than it is to clean and reload a gun after it's been shot.

Strictly for tactical use only, I have a small Gerber for everyday chores.

I only use my tactical knife when I have to sneak up on UPS parcels and "gut" them

Tactical knife? All knives are basic pieces of sharpened steel with a non-sharpened handle.

It's how you use them that determines their function, not their design per say.

I never use my defensive support side knife for mundane daily cutting chores.

I make certain that it sports a razor sharp edge using my Lansky Diamond sharpening system at home and then I do not use that knife for general cutting tasks. I never do but, I would (of course) in an Emergency.

I want it to have that ultra-keen flesh ripping edge in case I need it to save my bacon...so I do not open boxes with it or whittle wooden spoons with it in my spare time.

You need to decide why you carry that particular knife and always treat it accordingly.

Carry an additional small pocket knife or a Leatherman if you need an apple peeler, letter opener, box cutter, and fingernail scraper.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I have to admit, I've never understood this philosophy......unless the knife that you're carrying for defensive support (I like that term!) isn't well suited to another purpose.....a push dagger for instance.....why wouldn't you use it for more mundane chores as needed? Assuming a quality knife, it's not going to be hurt by peeling an apple........

Now if the answer is, "I like knives and the more the merrier", well that I do understand!

It's more a tool to me than it is a weapon.

Use it for just about everything.

Attaching a tactical Surefire to my tactical knife's tactical rail, I blind tactical boxes before tactically opening them for the tactical contents.

I carry a knife as a tool because I need a knife as a tool. That means I use it as a tool whenever I need that tool. Not sure I use it every day, but most days I probably use it at least once.

That being said, I have a few knives and just keep them sharp in case I need to use them for more than my daily activities.

It's just a big tool to me. I use it for everything from cutting an apple for lunch to opening boxes, whatever I need it for. Using a Cold Steel folder now, had an Emerson Commander before that and it was the only Emerson I've ever seen in such terrible shape. Made it through all the abuse and I finally felt sorry for it and retired it!
That makes a lot of sense....

My "tactical" knife is reserved for "tactical" use only.
