    I need a decent machete

Anybody recommend one. I know there are a bunch of 5 dollar ones out there with crappy blades. I would like to get a decent one with a sharp blade, maybe 50 bucks with a sheath.

I need one to hang on my 4 wheeler for brush clearing and such. Thanks

And that has made all the difference.

This one is the same as the one I posted above, but it is cheaper.

This one is a little different and looks pretty useful.

Have you gone to an Army-Navy store and looked at the standard 18" military one? I got one years ago and still use it, it's been sharpened a few times and still serves well.

I think that is what I have now and thats where I got it. It only cost 5 bucks with a sheath, and is not very sharp at all.

I have a Cold Steel KUKRI Machete. Works good dull, even better sharp.
    Low price easy to sharpen.
Also it can take the place of a small camp axe and large camp knife. If you learn how to use it.

The one I've had and used for years cost me $3 at a flea market in San Anonio...still going strong.

If you want something that may be a step up from that (different blade styles, etc.), I'd look at the Cold Steel line.

Don't go too crazy, the nice thing about machetes is that you don't have to spend much to get a serviceable tool.

If you carry in Condition 3, you have two empty chambers. One in the weapon...the other between your ears.

My Ontario Knife Company one has been serving me well for about 20 years now. I have only sharped it a couple of times, but I keep it out of the dirt and off rocks also. I got it at a Army surplus store. If your going to use it, and by that if your going to be out clearing trails ect, for hours at a time, buy one with good steel in it, they will let you go through a 2-3 inch tree in one slice on a soft wood tree, up to 1 1/2 or so on a harder wood tree. It sure beats the heck out of getting a sore arm from beating on something until it breaks.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I bought a "Woodsman" and sent it back within two days. It was dull, awkward to swing, and wouldn't whack through a small sapling. Absolutely worthless in my opinion. They didn't argue or ask what the problem was - they refunded my money.

Thanks all, I bought 2 Cold Steel Machetes, 1 smaller one to carry in the car and a bigger one for home use.

I didnt like the looks of the Woodsman either, just doesn't have the "cool machete factor" look
