Was there a BOLD printed WARNING on the knife box or included with the knife?

IMPROPERLY HANDLED KNIVES CAN BE DANGEROUS.
    WARNING BLADE IS EXTREMELY SHARP!

If not you can sue the manufacturer.

    Welcome to the club.
I got really unlucky with a razor-sharp Finnish/Swedish knife. Cut myself three or four times within twenty-four hours of getting it.
Did teach me to use care and caution in the sheathing/desheathing process.
Be aware that blood is corrosive, and that you should clean and oil the knife after playing doctor.

I'm 35, made a mistake when I was 12 cutting towards rather than away.

Cut my left hand thumb where hand meets the thumb, more on the thumb, top part of hand (not palm side).

No stitches were required, doctor closed with butterflies. Was quick and clean cut. Was a deep and to the bone.

Thumb works fine, but a nasty scar 23 years later. I have never made a mistake with a knife since (knock on wood).

I cut my right index finger off at the 3rd knuckle with a little kershaw blade.

Thanks to the fine folks in the ER and at Walter Reed AMC I got to keep it and it works like new. :)

    I don't use knifes anymore.

That warm blood puts the final temper on the blade

If you carry in Condition 3, you have two empty chambers. One in the weapon...the other between your ears.

    Ka-bar makes some nice blades.

Are there any general national laws regarding carrying knives, or is it all state-specific? For instance, in my state (Rhode Island) you cannot carry a concealed knife with blade more than 3" long............. Not sure about open carry on hip.

With the possible exception of laws on switchblades, I believe knife laws are primarily a state issue. Some states require that you open-carry the knife, others don't say a thing. Some, like Texas, have 5.5" max blade length, others don't. It varies from state to state.

Short of TSA airport rules, all state specific.
    TN is 4" for example.

If you travel in several states, best to know what each one stipulates.

well my cut was about that bad, just longer. i did not want to pay $500-$800 to have the ER sew it up, so i cleaned it, stopped the bleeding and superglued it shut (after stuffing the "guts" back in) worked pretty good, had a RN friend look it over later, she said i did ok.

well, this is where i am wondering what the hell is wrong with me
today i slam my truck door shut on my right index finger, right at the knuckle, blood blisters both sides, and 14 hours later it is still numb

We all have our moments...a couple of years ago I put about 1" of my Endura into my thigh because I dropped it while I was seated in a chair eating an apple.

(on the other hand, I now know without any doubts that the thing will literally go through human flesh like a hot knife through butter )
