Me that is.
I have a Horn Spyderco with AUS 8 blade and I think I've killed too many cardboard boxes.
Can you help me out with a fool proof way to sharpen this? Or is there someone I can send the knife to?
TIA

if you want a good kit, you might try cabela's or bass pro shops.
if you have one of those store near by,if not look at thier website.
they can also mail your orders. as far as k-mart,wally world
and other such stores, not much of a selection and what they
do have is pretty cheap.(imo) anyway, good luck in your search.

Most of them offer a quality sharpening service for only a few dollars. And if they screw it up, they owe you a new knife.![]()

Smith's Knife Sharpener: Smith's 2 Step Knife Sharpener, SM-CCKS
Costs about $4-$5 and you can find it at Lowes. It will not bring your blade to scalpel sharpness but I guarantee you it will cut you if you are not careful.
For a working knife it is more than enough. I'd recommend you actually have another knife as SD back up. Also learn to hone the SD knife with any of the above recommended systems.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

Miggy, those only put a primary rough grind on the blade and they're too small to work well. Good for a pack as a last ditch lightweight have along, but #2 below does the same thing easier.
To answer the OP's question, get two things and you'll be able to sharpen any butter knife to razor blade in short order.
1. :: Spyderco Product Details ::
2. Accusharp "V" ShearSharp Carbide Scissors Sharpener
You can get #2 at hardware stores, gun shops etc
Use that tool to put the primary grind back on the blade with several passes, then break out the Spyderco kit and start with the brown/dark stones and move on to the white stones for a razor edge.
I usually keep my own knives done with the course brown Spydie stones, and prefer not to put the razor edge on my knives as the edge isn't as aggressive and it doesn't last as long and has to be sharpened more often.

I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker. It is simple to use and produces a very sharp edge.
warthog V-sharp sharpener will make your knife razor sharp in less than 5 minutes.
I've heard lots of good things on the Spyderco sharpmaker.
Got one on my Christmas list, if I can wait that long.
I have had a Smith's knife sharpening kit for 8 years and use it on all of my knifes. It makes it so easy to get a very sharp edge.
