I order stuff from New Graham knives, good people to work with, not sure what part of VA they are in though.

I buy most of my stuff online...generally better prices. My local gun shop has a small selection of MT, Kershaw, BM, etc. knives. The cutlery shop in the mall carries BM and others. Dick's sporting goods generally has Gerber, CRKT and the like (but not the high-end knives). Bass Pro shop had a good selection, from BM to CRKT. Maybe there are options like this where you live.

Just recently got a chance to stop at the Smokey Mountain Knife Works factory in Tennessee on the way back to VA from TX. Boy, that showroom has every kind of knife imaginable! Almost worth the drive by itself. They also have a web site with an extensive catalog. However, I didn't find their prices to be all that great...mostly MSRP.

Tactical Outfitters in VA Beach, you will get a chance to fondle the majority of what production companies have to offer.

extreme-outfitters.com in Va beach. I know it's a little away from you but they supply most of the big military groups and all that stuff down here. Their website has a lot of stuff that you can order from them if you can't make it down here. But they have SO much stuff it's worth it for a day trip. In Lynchburg there is a Hiker's Outpost that has a decent selection but of course is more focused on hiking knives. Good luck!

Try the Rockingham co-op in Harrisonburg. I've only been in there once, but I wasn't looking for knives. It seems like the kind of place to carry the stuff you're looking for.
