Hey guys I no this is useless with out picks I am trying to get them up. Here is my question
I have a Gerber guardian, but I can find info on it. It is different than all I have found on the internet. This guardian is not double edged. It looks more like a filet blade. It does not have R.W.L stamped on it, but it does have Gerber and Portland on it, on the handle it say Guardian. I have the sheath as well, this looks like the sheaths made in the early 80s it also has Gerber stamped on the metal clip.
Does any one have any info on this knife? Value, or any history it would be great. I will try to get some good picks up soon.
Thanks To ALL,

Yup... a letter opener now! :gah:
That explains it. I bought this at a yard sale months a go, I thought it was a fishing knife. One day I started to look on line. Thanks
Double edge blades are illegal in MA. Thats why it was mutilated. Previous owner was probably afraid of the law!
That's so sad. I'll give you $5 for it -- mine needs a new sheath!
The leather sheath looks like early 1980's production, they came out with a nylon sheath in the late 1980's. As it is, probably not worth anything sadly. Mine was about $60 Canadian in 1984 and the second I got with the nylon sheath was about $10 more in 1988.
Don't know if they are still in production, haven't seen them for awhile and no idea of the current value in good condition if any...
Nice little body knife, holds an edge really well and had an option for the sheath which allowed it to be carried in any position or velcro'ed to a web harness. Neat little knife, sorry about what happened to it.
take care and be well,
