WalMart visit = Kershaw!
Got out on bike this afternoon - tempted by the blazing 59º temperatures! Good excuse to go pick up my wife some sewing machine needles from Wally World, which she needed.
As ever (don't we so often do this?) - swung by the sporting goods section, well, ya know - check it out LOL!
Suddenly remember my quest for (yet) another knife - and while a BOA is still on the list - had been thinking of a small Kershaw, the Buck in pocket is a shade long and digs me in thigh when sitting, plus it is not too swift to open.
Long and short - came out with a Kershaw ''Scallion'' - what a great little knife - $35.00. Clip was initially so darned strong I could hardly get it out of pocket once in - eased that a bit - much better now.
I think this will very easily be the new carry knife
Nice. I just may have to visit my local "Mart"!!
Oh my GOD!!! you'r gonna cut a finger off with that baby.
that looks like a nice knife
Nice Little Knife
Of course it does not quite have the Full 5" serious blade that my SOG folder has but, it's still nice!:biggrin2:
Size ain't everything QK! :18:
I like the Kershaws designed by Ken Onion. They are a little bit too small and slender for me to be my favorites, but they're so well made at their price points.
My Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout came from a random trip thru Wally World...$50.
It's my favorite folder so far.
For normal days at work, my scallion is always in my pocket!
odd, I just came from wally world.
I had seen this post earlier in the day, and went to the knife counter.
The Kershaws they showed me were all "made in china"
I was under the impression that Kershaw was made here in the US
Bryan - my box does say - tho why heaven knows - ''Made in USA - printed in China''. Hmmm - long way to send a box for printing!!
The other blurb tho says ''Litspeedsafe - made in USA''
So - Company in OR - I thought making Onion knives here - but does make me wonder what the Chinese connection is.
Where was the ''made in China'' written?
It was on the box, but I noticed that after I opened one and saw it stamped on the blade. The sad thing is the lock on the thing wouldn't even hold the blade open. I could flip it open and shut effortlessly. I hope yours works well for you but I WAS NOT impressed.
That then Bryan is odd and worrysome. What are folks getting - and is there counterfeit stuff coming in the back door. I would tend out of curiosity to take that up with your Wally World branch - and even Kershaw. (800) 325-2891.
Just checked my knife again - and needless to say I checked it all over and for lock-up before buying. The blade has on it - ''1620H3, a patent #, Design By Ken Onion and - MADE IN USA''.
Intriguing - n'est pas? I can see you would be unimpressed - and yet my specimen is just great - what I wanted and I have full confidence in it so far.
I can shed a little light on this. Kershaw Knives are indeed made in the USA.
However there is a huge influx of a Chinese copy of the Scallion right now. It looks like a Scallion, but it's a piece of junk. My cousin has one, and they're everywhere.
The real deal and the copy bear only a superficial resemblance.
It's to be hoped then Euc that Bryan's Wally World is not trying to pass them off as the real deal - that is worth checking IMO.
