I can assure you that knife combat is not a West Side Story dance or anything resembling precision strikes and cuts. It is nasty brutal grab your attacker hack, slash, rip your attacker guts out as quickly as possible. Stabbing like an industrial sewing machine. I guarantee you that neither you nor the moron getting stuck gives a rat's rear about a bit of sticky tape residue on the blade or if the blade is not surgically sharp. That said I carry three or more knives at any given time. I use every one of them for whatever task is at hand they each stay razor sharp, clean enough to eat with and more than capable of defending my life with. A knife is a tool to be used often throughout your day until it part of you an appendage as familiar and natural as your fingers.

I do not open boxes with my SD knife. I have a swiss army knife for that kind of thing.

I carry an SOG Flash 2. It does not have a designated job description. It does all the jobs I ask it to. I in return do all it asks of me, clean it and keep it sharp.
