Once upon a time when I carried a badge I had an officer from another jurisdiction ask my why I was carrying my Spyderco Endura AND a Cold Steel Gunsite folder (he was an overbearing puke anyway). My answer was "To cut the badguy's f******* guts out when I run out of ammo" He made some curt remark about bringing a knife to a gunfight and walked off. My Chief overheard the conversation and told me "Good plan"

I carry two knives everywhere, always - a small Kershaw and a larger CRKT M-16. They are essential tools I use dozens of times a day. The fact that one of them could save my bacon is just an added benefit.

Because he's not as "into" the concept of the value of civilian carry thang as we are. The one doing you was, obviously. Same ol', same ol'.

I'm convinced that most of the people who use that line are the ones who would be absolutely lost w/o their pistol (and probably aren't worth much with it)...

If you carry in Condition 3, you have two empty chambers. One in the weapon...the other between your ears.

A gun is great when the BG is out of reach, but when he's in reach a cold blade can sometimes make him stop faster then hot lead. Gets a little messy though.

I would guess the officer that asked "why do you need a knife" is a desk jockey and not a patrol officer.

Around here, I'm surprised the cops can even move with all the crap they wear on there belts.

I stopped carrying my knife. In MN if you use your gun you needed to have exhausted all other ways of defense first, and if you have a knife and didn't use it and just shot and killed them, they frown apon that.

How close is MN to IL?
That just doesn't make any sense.
