Ka Bar TDI knives
Anybody have any experience and or feelings about Ka Bar's Tactical Defense Institute knives ( TDI ). They come in three sizes small, large and ankle knife and were design as a last resort weapon for the police and for that matter the legally armed civilian. I am considering one rather than an automatic knife. Thanks

I carry my TDI weakside 9 o'clock. It is accessible with both hands. I purchased mine after watching Limatunes video on youtube.
Fits the hand nicely and Razor Sharp.
It's almost always on me.

I carry a TDI weak side at 8 o'clock most days, when I don't opt for the SOG Flash II in weak side front pocket.
It is a nice little knife and will do the job if ever called upon.

I love mine. I have the small size. I keep it clipped to my visor in my truck where I can get to it quick if ever needed.

My TDI is at 9:00. Accessible by both hands...I use it mostly as a utility knife at work, but keep a nice edge on it. I love it..I have the straight edge in black.

I have one, they are great knives especially as a backup. I was luck enough to pick one up when they first hit the market from ebay for 30 bucks

I have both the large and the small. I only really carry the small. I use the large for a hunting knife, but I just like the way the blade is balanced better on the small.

I carry the small one, straight blade, at strong-side about 5:00. Unlike a lot of folks, I prefer the belt clip. The slide-thru clip also supplied, holds the knife too close to my body. And when drawn, it almost cut me when I was trying it. The belt clip has never moved or slipped on a 1 1/2" gun belt.

I like the clip too. As as a last resort to stop someone from taking your firearm it appears to be excellent. I am waiting on an E-Bay bid.One way or another I am legally carrying one.

I've had the small model for quite a while now and like it very much. Recently purchased the large size and found it almost as easy to tote unnoticed, by myself or those around me.
However imo the provided sheaths are not exactly suited to my needs. The one for the large size knife takes up too much belt space, and neither of them goes on or comes off my belt as easily as I'd prefer. Nor do I like those tiny torx head screws that hold them together, without gluing them in or checking frequently, they come loose and get lost way too easy.
Had one of the local "kydex benders" make me a simple IWB with belt clip for the small one. He made it simple and small enough that it can be worn in a front pocket as well, with a nub on the sheath just forward of the top of the knife handle, to push against with my thumb for an easy draw.
Wasn't long before I got another kydex maker to fashion the same style of carrier for the large model. (The first guy I used is good but takes too long sometimes, this newer outfit does them for you on-the-spot at gun shows.) It would be a bit long for conventional front pockets, but otherwise it's just as user-friendly.
I wear either of them on the weak side, just behind my spare ammo carrier.

Free American you have inspired me to give up a little secret tucked away here in the Cincinnati (Newport Ky.) area: Cecil Clark Cutlery. Don't think they sell online direct to the public, but for anyone visiting the area in search of cuttin' implements, they are THE place to shop.
For example the large TDI knife ran me like $40 and tax otd a month or so ago. For locals they are worth Googling or Yellow Paging up for more details...
