    Neck knife question...

    Hello all,
I've been really looking at the Hideaway Knives and really like the functionality of them, but I just can't spend that kind of money on a knife. What are all of the alternatives? I kinda like the KaBar Last Ditch TDI, which is the smaller version TDI, any others? Thank guys.

IMO the Emerson LaGriffe leads the pack.

I'm a Cold Steel fan. Great stuff for the price, and pretty fierce performance.

    Less than $50
Mini Tac Series : Fixed Blade Knives
Less than $20, small but watch the video
Urban Pal : Utility Knives (Fixed Blade)
Less than $30 on sale and my personal choice (the Bowie or Tokyo)
The Spike Series : Boot and Neck Knives (Fixed Blade)
Don't miss the Spike video, really gives perspective on what a little knife can do.

And buy one of these, too. It's not what you're looking for, but the price is right, these used to be like $99. Not concealable, but cool:
Pole Axe Closeout : Cold Steel

I bought my first Cold Steel in 1988 and I still have it and use it all the time. I can't carry a firearm at work, but a knife as a tool is ok.

I have a Kabar LDK that I have tied on my belt. It is a good knofe for the price.

I don't like to carry knives on my neck. They can move to much, and be to hard for me to grab when I need them

Benchmade Snody Instigator Black. Had mine for several years, kind of abused it but it has worn well. Maintains a razor edge. I like it and recommend it.

+1 on the Cold Steel Spike series. I have had mine for 7 or 8 years. It has held up remarkably well too. I carry mine in a leg sheath for cold weather wear too and it is way comfortable. AND if you lose it, you will not feel too sorry for having spent too much on it

I see little value in a knife worn around the neck (inside a shirt) for SD...that said, here's the Ka Bar TDI that I have...

KA-BAR Knives: KABAR TDI Knife, Part Serrated Coyote Brown, KA-1477CB

Note: When first using, keep a box of bandaids readily available...

I like the LDK, it has a good size and a good price. That's more than likely what i'm going with, unless Hideaway comes off their price a little.

I also would not advocate wearing a neck around the knife for SD. If you are in any position except for standing you have no idea where the knife will be. My dislike of neck carry was one of the reasons for the mercharness.

Check out the Woo by Newt Livesay. I bought quite a few of these to hand out to buddies in the beginning to the WOT and they have served them well. I used to have one static corded to the the visor of my patrol car.

Been thinking about grabbing myself a Snoddy Instigator but was waiting to see a report from a long-time user. Thanks for the info, dairycreek.
