benchmade nitrous stryker
Just want to state that I have been looking for an EDC folder that fit my needs and decided on the Benchmade Nitrous Stryker. I just received it from ebay much less than retail and love it. I especially like the Nitrous assist. You just barely apply a little pressure on the thumbstud and it takes care of the rest with a solid lock. On a side note, I read recently where the U.S Customs and Border Patrol Agency are trying to make this type of pocket knife illegal (they are saying,if I understand correctly, that this mechanism fits under the definition of an AUTO knife). I personally feel that would be an injustice.

They're going further than that, they're going after anything with thumbstuds too. Basically, any one handed opener is under threat with the crap they're trying to pull. I'm a long time Benchmade fan myself, been carrying at least one daily since early in 2001 and I don't see myself changing back to nail-nick pocket knives or lock backs for a variety of reasons. Customs is going to have one very large contingent of P.O.'ed Americans to deal with if they continue down this road.

Another reason why a smallish fixed blade might be the way to go. Get one with a +/- 3" blade and you dodge all of this junk. mercop likes the Emerson La Griffe and I don't mind the ghetto version, a CRKT Bear Claw.

I love my Nitrous Stryker...got it after I returned the 5.11 First Responder to the store.
