Well if we're using it s a meas to defend ourselves then I recommend that you prioritize the attributes in a hornet spray. What am I talking about? Let me elaborate: What your looking for in hornet spray in terms of an effective noon lethal weapon is two things: Range and stopping power (not unlike shopping for a firearm)Typical hornet sprays come in aerosol cans that can shoot outward up to 15-20 feet. You should aim to purchase a can that can hit its target up to 20 feet. Next is stopping power, this aspect is a little harder to quantify but still doable. Your looking for the spray that with do the most damage to its target, thus debilitating a potential assailant. When it comes to a wasp spray, what your looking for is a spray that is foaming action (harder to simply wipe off) and lastly you want a spray that contains Piperonyl Butoxide (mildly toxic but a hyper irritant of the skin and eyes)
One such example of this kind of spray is waspX, here's a link to the product info

great idea. I have a couple of cans of it in the garage now... Good to keep in the back of my mind if I am caught off guard in the garage... beats grabbing a rake or pick axe...

LEO told me that having a dog doesn't stop a BG. They spray the dog with wasp spray and walk right on in. Haven't tried it myself, just what he said.

    Wasp spray can be lethal.
It’s illegal to carry wasp spray as a “Self Defense Spray” in Michigan. If used, even in self defense, you will be charged at the least with a “misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years, or a fine of not more than $2,000.00, or both.” or a maximum of (depending upon the circumstances) felony murder.
The only legal form of “Self Defense Spray” in Michigan is outlined by state law; THE MICHIGAN PENAL CODE (EXCERPT) Act 328 of 193, Section 750.224d:

    Michigan Legislature - Section 750.224d

According to my friend, carrying wasp spray or mace as a "Self Defense Spray" can also lead to revocation of your CCW in Michigan

If you are looking for a defensive spray, BUY A DEFENSIVE SPRAY! It is designed for one purpose. Wasp spray has untested and questionable results, and is illegal to use in many places. Showing premeditaion to violate the warning label on each can describing how it is illegal to use is not a good idea.

If you are in the garage and get attacked, and it is there, absolutely use it. But if there is a proper tool for the job, use that.

I'll stick with Tracker Jacker spray. Buy the District 12 version.

Read the label on the can.

Most say that it is a federal crime to use in a mannerr inconsistent with its labeling.

I'd do it to avoid death, but count on being prosecuted for it.

    Wasp & hornet spray

Think if it this way. You are in civil court for damage due to bug spray
    Q. Why did you spray them with bug spray vs OC ? The can is marked as dangerous and not to use it that way? To hurt the "victim " more?

    What will you say?

Use the 9mm...prevents lawsuits by the perp...then you have to worry about the perp's family.

I dunno. Maybe "My gun is a whole lot more dangerous, and deadly to boot"?
