Beautiful pictures of very nice knives. How did you do the paracord wrapping on the handle of the one knife?

Thank you! There's actually a video on YouTube called the Izula Basketweave, I believe. I'll find a link and post it for you shortly.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~Paul Howe

Nice pics Jonathan, FLYBYU - you may want to look at the Spyderco salt series, they don't rust and i know my CS urban pal rusted around my neck with normal daily wear. Just a thought.

Thanks for the tip, I've actually owned about 10 different Salt models to date, never really cared for them that much. My Para-Military will rust very easily, so I coat it in mineral oil every night. The Perrin is 440C so hopefully rust won't be a huge issue, I may have to hit it with the mineral oil as well.

This is what I carry, a bit large, but in this case, size does count

I also carry a full size 1911 and I'm not a big guy by any stretch/

Here the's link to the video on YouTube. This guy has posted a few different wraps, but this is the one I prefer and, for me, has the best feel to it.

Thumbs up Paul Protector from Lone Wolf Knives

I have used many knives from Emerson combat folders to full and semi-automatics as well as custom combat bowies that I have helped to design. The only knife I carry now is a Paul Protector from Lone Wolf Knives. I bought my wife a Paul Prankster and she carries it everywhere. A reason I really like the Paul knives is that to someone not familiar with this breed of knife they are a puzzle to open. However if you own and practice with a Paul, they open lightning fast with one hand and there is no snap, just deadly quiet (or you can open them two handed to be PC, i.e. "smile and wave boys, smile and wave" ). At a private dinner at a restaurant in a closed room, with several special op former students and their families a few weeks ago, my wife put her Paul knife on the table. Now all these guys carry Emersons or something similar 24/7. Not a single operator could open her Paul knife, even after she demonstrated how it worked. When she showed the Paul's operation they were stunned due to the speed and the blade instantly appearing from her hand and without any sound.

KERSHAW TANTO BLUR with partial serration. I have a few others for self-defense but the Kershaw has become the one I trust for SD

I carry a little SOG Flash 1, converted to auto. I don't use it for defense.
I also carry a little Queen 2 blade penknife. I guess I'm not much of a knife guy...... ;^)

My primary EDC carry is an LLC/Gunting (see figure 1) on right side. The ramp is for impact strikes. Secondary carry is an Emerson full size commander (figure 2). Both knifes have solid locks and are one handed openers. The Commander sports a wave which allows the folder to open while drawing although I never count on it opening this way under exteme stress.

One important factor when selecting a folder which may serve as a defensive tool is to obtain a trainer if possible.

I love my SOG Flash II and so does everyone else who tries it.
