About the whole being in the middle of a group and having your arms grabbed, I am gonna agree with arm bars elbows kicks etc. In aikido/jujitsu a large number of techniques are done from a wrist grab or clothing grab, also in that situation if you use hard short strikes(elbow/knee/shin kicks/pressure points) and move or blend your way to the outside of the circle you can then use everyone to your advantage. In training we have made people fall over each other and fall on each other numerous times, just using blending and redirection techniques. If you add in there some devastating strikes you should have a pretty good shot.

In short I guess I am saying get to the outside however necessary and deploy your next option.

LOL, oh how many times I have seen this scenario played out in my military days, can't we skip to the important stuff, they are to impatient. I should know, I was one of those young guys, I wanted the 10 steps to kicking butt before I learned the 1st step to getting my butt kicked.
