    Sword Canes?

does anyone actually own something like this?

are they well constructed? is the mechanism that holds the handle to the cane cheap and weak???

How are the blades? are they thin and cheap or will they actually hold up if used.

The ones I have seen seemed solidly built. I have to say though, it's been ages since I killed anyone with a sword.

I have one that I picked up in Thailand. It was sturdy and well built. The blade was hand forged and was pretty good. The lock on mine gave out pretty quickly though as it was basically a thin ring of brass or copper or something. I'd upload a photo, but it's in storage!

i own one but do not carry the sword in it...i liked the design and at the time was restricted to walking with a cane so i purchased it and removed the cane to fly with it and such...in the time it takes to unscrew a handle and deploy the sword i could completely eliminate all forms of motivation from an attacker with the sturdily built cane itself...i really dont see the value in it other then it being a novelty...it is a concealed weapon so it isnt going anywhere my sidearm cannot...if the other guy whips out a sword i am not going to play highlander with him...there will be only one...and he carries a gun...

I thought they looked nice, seen a few with pewter top ends but the time it takes you to pull out the sword you could of hit the guy over the head twice with the handle. JMO

Nice novelty item. Check local laws before carrying though.

These are good, I've seen and played with one and if I felt I needed a sword cane for some reason, I'd call them up first. They also have plastic and wood walking sticks (and great knives too).

I've also seen a lot of "flea market" grade pakistani steel sword canes and I don't think I'd rely on one for SD, if I was relying on a sword cane. The blade would bend or break first use based on what I've seen. I've also seen a folding umbrella with a concealed blade, but it was pretty thin and only a long icepick really. No edge to it. I've seen those for sale and they were pretty cheaply made. I love that umbrella video, neat to look into if I maybe travelled in non-permissive environments a lot.

I own a cane made for me by a friend, it's a pool cue with a ball secured to the top with a threaded shaft and some epoxy. It will hold my weight and could give a good bashing and it's stylish, too. He made a good side business buying old cues and balls that a local pool hall was retiring and making canes to sell. Probably the work of 10 minutes to make one. It's totally legal to carry anywhere, too.

If I had an injury and needed a cane, I have no problem with one that could be used as a weapon.

Do you have pics of the cane/ball combo? That would be intresting to own.
