Endura with "wave"mod. (video)
A few people have asked about the effectiveness of the "wave" modification, and whether or not there is an increase in speed. This is a video I shot that shows the "wave" in action.
the audio and video aren't quite in sync with one another but y'all will get the idea. The first opening is a draw to forward grip using the thumbhole (the way you'd do it without the wave); then I have a draw to forward grip using the wave; then I do two draws to reverse grip, edge-in using the wave. Then I do two draws to reverse grip, edge-out with my "left-hand" knife to show how it works from a different postion.

I watched your video several times and if I'm seeing it right, you are closing the blade over half way on three of your fingers. Is this true ?? -------

Don't have any expiereance with the Endura but I have owned two of the Spyderco "Police" model's for 12(or so) years now. As I type this I am holding the above model in my hand.
I do not consider myself to have overly large/meaty hands, and with left hand positioned as your's is in the above pics.....1. my finger is only .30" away from the sharpened part of the blade and....2.while closing ,where do you go from there ?? What is the next movement and/or step in the closing process ??
Forgive me if I am missing something,but........seems to me that you have your finger(s) in a position that they could very easily get lopped off with just one little mistake on YOUR PART. Or what would be even worse would be in a ground grapple or very close encounter ,the BG could, while grabbing for the knife, cause it to close on your fingers(close it with pressure on your fingers).
If I am missing a step or two in the opening/closing process, please explain. Thanks -------

Closing isn't "time-sensitive", and handling a bloody blade is a tad different than zipping open mulch, so there is some context there. (I don't think anyone here would be cavalier in handling a wet blade.)For day-to-day chores-and "playing", you'll have your own personal index-points to feel for, as you close the blade.
The opening is the biggie- the blade just "appears". Opening will make the blade move away from your hand, if anything.... am I misunderstanding? I have an older Rescue I was going to wave (I did an old Endura, to check it out- I'm a convert!
) If you want it, I'll cut it out, and send it your way, so you can see what you think. LMK....

well, like Rob said, closing the blade isn't "time sensitive." In other words, opening the knife is going to be done as quickly as possible, closing the knife can be done at your leisure with whatever method you prefer. When opening, my hand/fingers don't wrap around the handle until the blade is locked open.

I am very interested in the Wave model Endura, does anyone have any idea as to how available they are at local dealers? The only official dealer here say it would be about 5-6 months before they got out, but I can't believe it would take that long.

Here's a couple of places that I know either have them, or will have more in the near future. I don't have any idea when they'll be available in your local store(s).

First off although the audio is out of sync the video tells the story!
Last September I transitioned into Emerson Karambits and full-size Commanders but not for the wave although I think this is a great feature and super happy Spyderco and Emerson got together to create and even better product in the Endura which I truly believe is one of the top dogs in folders.
Personally I closed all my Spyderco folders this way until I transitioned to an Emerson Commander basically 99% of the blade is sharp. If you ever get the chance to try out an Emerson Commander do it, this is a truly great knife for tactics or everyday utility chores.
On a side note I was speaking to a instructor who is in both Spyderco and Emerson circle were he said that Emerson was not looking for what is now known as the wave but came across it by accident and so glad he did
