The City of Las Vegas requires that a knife carried concealed have a blade lees than 3", yes, but bear in mind that the Strip (south of Sahara Ave. and the Sahara hotel) is in unincorporated Clark County, NOT in the City. The downtown area ("Glitter Gulch") is in the City.

The state law bans concealed carry of any "dirk, dagger or dangerous knife," which is quite vague. I can say for certain that a Bud Nealy 5" Pesh Kabz will be considered a dangerous knife

A folder clipped to the pocket will not be considered concealed unless a jacket or something covers the clip, and no one will care anyway unless you're doing something else to draw attention to yourself. I can say for certain that climbing the statue of David at Ceasar's Palace will draw such attention I was young...

The Stratosphere casino tower uses a metal detector at the elevator. Hoover Dam has one at the entrance to the tour. Other than that I can't think of anyplace you're likely to have trouble, as long as you don't act stupidly.

Come to Vegas, have fun, lose lots of money!

Thanks for the reply. We were originally gonna stay at the stratosphere but decided on the Imperial Palace. I will be spending alot of time at Ballys too. Thanks again, I will try to keep my name out the papers as they say.

I cannot recommend any of those properties. If you're staying at the IP, at least have a little fun making Nazi jokes to the employees.

A little clarification: The Stratosphere is within the city limits, and so the 3" limit would be in force there. The metal detector is at the entrance to the 1000' tower, not the hotel or casino.

And open carry of knives or firearms is 100% legal. The casinos don't seem to like it, though, and will almost certainly kick you out. Again, though, a folder in the pocket is highly unlikely to draw any attention.
