Absolutely LOVE my Spyderco Sharpmaker. It works like a dream and is really easy to use.

I also have a nice set of DMT flat stones, a Lansky, some of those carbide V type "draw the knife through it" kinds, whetstones, etc. Sharpmaker is my most often used.

I'll second the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Will do it all, from serrated, to scissors (?) to fishhooks. And does it well! Recommended by many custom makers.

Always has to be one in the bunch.....I hated the Spyderco "dullmaker". I got nowhere fast with that thing!!

Yeah, I bet it does work great after you spend hours trying to get the blade shoulder down to that insane angle. That is if you arm does not lock up before you get there. I tried the marker trick, too.

I sold mine to Brownie, then I went back to using a stone and can have my knife go from butter knife dull to razor sharp in no time!

To each his own. Good luck!

I have to say the Spyderco sharpmaker is simple, superb and consistent. My 16 year old son has created a wonderful income for himself doing "neighborhood" knife/scissor sharpening and doing fine salon shears, scissors, nail cutters and pet grooming shears - all with the simple syperco system.

I just ordered a replacement Spyderco Sharpmaker. My orginal had several of the rods chip when it fell off a shelf and the rods clanked against each other when they landed. I checked the price of replacement rods and a new Sharpmaker was cheaper. Go figure.

Ditto on the Sharpmaker. It's the sharpener for dummies (I'm not proud :)).
