What makes the Mini Grip so popular?
On the surface it looks like any other knife imo and I don't see any feature that seems to stand out. Maybe its just the quality and feel of it?
mine is ridiculously sharp, it will do any task that i can think of sans being a pry bar, its pretty thin. are you just going to put it in your pocket? I dont even notice I have that knife on me when I carry it. Not to mention the grips are really good and it doesnt slip even when wet.

To answer the question with one sentence: the axis lock is what makes the knife so popular. I personally do not carry a folding knife without an axis. I sold all of the ones I had that didnt have an Axis. I still prefer fixed blade though, but just personal pref.

It is. Nice knife, but if slim and flat is what you want, I'd take a serious look at Spyderco.

I am looking for something that has a thinner handle/grip/profile. I also want a plain edge preferably not hollow ground. I want the blade length to be in between what I have 2.8-3.25" so maybe around 3".
My limit is $70 shipped. This will just be used for minor everyday tasks and defense if needed.

Also I don't want another Kershaw, leatherman, Gerber, or CRKT.
Check out Cold Steel Voyagers. I've carried one for years and they are my all time favorites. I've broken more expensive folders but CS Voyagers offer the most bang for buck yet.

    Best. Have fun.

I just picked up a Benchmade Mini Skirmish w/ black coated combo blade. The titanium handles make it really light and balanced. Hope I dont lose this one.
