Help me choose a new EDC knife.

I currently carry a Leatherman 830300 c301 (blade lenght 2.8", overall 6.84") and a Kershaw Whirlwind (blade length 3.35", overall 7.75"). They are both combo edges. I like them both. I want to try another brand such as Benchmade, Spyderco, Sog, etc.

I am looking for something that has a thinner handle/grip/profile. I also want a plain edge preferably not hollow ground. I want the blade length to be in between what I have 2.8-3.25" so maybe around 3".
My limit is $70 shipped. This will just be used for minor everyday tasks and defense if needed.

Also I don't want another Kershaw, leatherman, Gerber, or CRKT.

I don't know if I should wait for the new Spyderco Enduras and Delicas with the flat ground blade but I don't know if that will be next week or 2 months from now.

+1 on the Benchmade MiniGrip! The axis lock is very strong as is the blade. Good prices run $50-60. I have had one for several years as EDC carry.

I like the Mini Griptilian but prefer the feel of the Delica (a bit more handle and better feel in the hand). Conversely, I prefer the feel of the Griptilian over the Endura (handle is too long and too thin).

And another vote for the Axis Lock. It's tough as nails and by far the best lock I've used so far on a folder.

I know the Benchmade Mini Griptilian is popular but it seems kind of thick to me. It doesn't look as thin as other knives as far as the handle. I do know if G10 handles are usually thin but they always look flat on the sides while FRN type handles tend to be molded to a more of a rounder shape.

What makes the Mini Grip so popular?
On the surface it looks like any other knife imo and I don't see any feature that seems to stand out. Maybe its just the quality and feel of it?
