I've daily carried a Benchmade 670 plain edge with the spring assist for a little over three years now.

The spring and lock still function like new, the spring can be removed with a tool included with the knife should you not want it. The spring of course causes resistance closing the knife until the blade cams over, closing it with one hand requires some dexterity and care until you're used to it, almost to the point where I get nervous when somebody without much knife experience tries to close it. The knife is definitely on the heavy side with a stainless steel frame, but I've carried it so long I don't notice anymore.

It has been discontinued, but I've seen it for sale a few places recently.

I've owned a few folders previous to this, including a Gerber Paraframe and a CRKT M16-10KZ, disliked the Gerber, liked the M16 much better until the blade bushing wore out, but the Benchmade is a cut above all IMO.

That IS a pretty knife ... sure wish I could find the model name/number/nomenclature? 551BK 101 Gold Class correct? The one with the carbon fiber & CPM-M4? What did you pay for that if I may ... $300.00ish?

Another vote for the Kershaw Leeks. They have them in Rainbow, stainless, aluminum, etc. 1600 series is about the size you want.

I just saw them the other day at local gun store. I went online and found one for about half the price of the lgs. On order!
