    It's a trap! Don't fall for it.

I lost the cup for my Stanley thermos and went on a search for a new one. I started at Walmart Friday after work, they had the thermos but not the cup. Yesterday when Easter shopping for the grand kids with my wife, we stopped in at Big 5 Sporting Goods, to look for the thermos cup.

Big 5 does not sell Stanley thermos but they do have ammo and riffles. The trap was set. They had a Mosin Nagant M91/30 for $99, complete with sling, ammo pouches, bayonet, tools etc. My wife wanted shoes and said that I did not need another gun. I already have plenty. If I bought the gun we would not have enough to buy her shoes.

To make a long story short. I bought gun and she bought her shoes, the grand kids got Easter baskets and the wife is happy.

Now the rest of the story.....When we returned home from shopping my wife started with the guilt trip. Instead of spending time getting to know my new friend. I have been refinishing the patio furniture. My work bench is covered with sawdust, my clothes have paint on them and I'm only half done with the job. My wife is with the grand kids (It's Easter), and I still have a full days work on the patio furniture.

Ya think my wife had all of this planned yesterday when we were at Big 5?

Did I fall into the trap?

Is she that much smarter than me?

    She got shoes anyway.

I still don't have a thermos cup. But I do have a new toy that
I may get to fondle after the patio furniture is finished.

    Gotta love it.
Don't tread on me or mine.

Yup, she is. In the words of the great Jack Nicholson - "They're smarter than we are and they don't play fair."

    lol....yup, trapped you sounds like a win-win
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
    1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man

    Sounds like a fun day!

Check Ace Hardware for parts for your thermos. We have them at the stores near me.

When we got married 14 years ago I made a scared vow.........That I would NEVER have more guns than she had pairs of shoes.......I still have not caught up.

So for me if she wanted shoes I am entitled to a gun; just to keep from losing ground.

AND, I would not be surprised if that thermos cup turns up in a couple days.

    Good story!

One of the benefits of a second marriage is that you get to hit the 'reset' button if you're smart. Over the several years we dated, I got Lady C accustomed to my purchasing habits. At one point I informed her of the "rules"... "you buy a toilet brush, I buy a gun. You buy curtains, I buy a gun. You buy a blouse, I buy a gun." We laughed about it and I've even heard her repeating that to her friends... she's a great sport about it - even now that we're married!

    Wait a minute...
You're refinishing the patio furniture and she's out visiting?
Each time she gets new shoes, she should polish the old ones to make then look as good as the new ones.
Just don't tell her this is my idea

That's what I'm thinking. If that thermos cup magically turns up I'd start watching her a little more closely....

That was a test--to see if you'd try to talk her out of buying more shoes (like she ain't got enough already).

You failed. Lucky you. Isn't a new gun worth a few chores?
