    My first!

Just picked up my first shotgun this past weekend!

Its a Remington 870 HD. I was either going to get it, or the Mossberg 500. Just seemed to like the feel better on the Remington.

I bought it at Dick's sporting goods. I had never really been there for a gun purchase, but they were the only ones who had one at a reasonable price. Gander was selling the same gun for $200 more!

The Dick's employee was in the Army National Guard i believe, and was VERY knowledgeable. And helpful. I came in about 8:40 pm, Dick's closes at 9, and he went out of his way to sneak my background check in before the CBI closed shop. We got to talking about guns in general, and i mentioned i had an M4 that i needed bore sighted. He told me to bring it in the next day, and then stayed with me helping me pick out some ammo until about 9:20, well after closing time.

Next day, I brought the M4 in, he spent about 10-15 minutes sighting it, then didn't even charge me.

Ill be back there for sure. Really made my first shotgun buying experience pleasant.

Of course with my luck, this past weekend it snowed, so i wasn't able to try out my new toy. Cant wait till Sunday!

Sounds like a great experience. Make sure you tell his boss that you're more than pleased with the service he provided and that you will be doing much more shopping there because of him.

People tend to only ask for their boss to file a complaint. A compliment is much rarer and will probably let the employee know his good service doesn't go unnoticed.

Nice shottie, and great customer service! I agree with the previous poster about talking to his boss, and would add you should shoot an email to corporate, or fill out the survey thing online (if they have one on the receipt).

Nice Shotgun. Dick's is a good store to shop in. I'd tell his boss that you are very happy with your service during the sale.

Sweet... love a good shotgun. WHats the capacity? Looks like an 8+1. Maybe a six though.

Now you need to take that bad boy to a tactical shotgun course.

My first shotgun was a 870 and I really have enjoyed that shotgun.

    Nice choice.

I've found that Dick's stores in general have decent employees at the gun counters.
