    50 Beowulf or .458 Socom?

    50 Beowulf or .458 Socom? Anybody with first hand knowledge with either? Which would you choose and why?

    Have you ever shot either of them? There are LOTS better rounds for home defense that a 458 or 50.

    many other boards have discussed this to death. Try Google.

    Consensus seems to be the Beawoulf if you just want to buy ammo from a store like Cabella's and the Socom if you handload.

    I have no idea... I would probably base my decision on ammo availability. I think either would do just fine in stopping an attack

    If I wanted to shoot really big chunks of lead from my AR, I'd go with .450 Bushmaster.

    My reason is simple. My local store stocks it, and not the other two.

    I haven't shot any of them though.

    I think the Beowulf round is a bit more popular and more readily available, but I have no direct experience with either rounds.
