    New Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader

Found this today at the local pawn shop... Looks to have VERY few rounds through it, finish is about 99%. Just a few minor rubs here and there. Has an 18.5" barrel, adjustable pistol grip stock, heat shield, forearm strap and sidesaddle. Loaded with Remington Express 2 3/4" 00 Buck. Gave $300 cash. What do you guys think?

Can't go wrong with a Mossberg. I've got a basic 500 with the 20" barrel myself, and I couldn't be happier. Barring some defect in that particular gun you bought, I say you did good and enjoy your new shotgun!

I think as a duck or goose gun, it's not very practical.

As a defender of your castle, your family and your life... I think it's a Best Buy!

    Good find and decent price!

If you have a corner in your house where you might have to fire left handed the shell holder can injure your face. Other than that I like those.

Sounds like a great price for a great gun, gratz on the find.

Superhouse has a good point, I don't think I like the placement of the shell holder much. But I love the collapsible stock.

Thanks for the great comments guys.

I have debated on removing the shell holder. I like having the shells on board, but I am concerned about the brass making contact with the frame of my glasses during recoil even shooting right handed.

In the photo, I have the shells pushed all the way down into the holders. This will alleviate the contact issue, but the shells are extremely tight. If I leave the brass sticking out of the top, they are easier to access but also right next to my face. For those of you with side saddles, what is the proper way to store the shells - down to the brass or all the way down as in the photo?

Thanks for the offer.... nice :)

I've just seen a few different ways of inserfting the shells, some even upside down. Hoping someone has a pic to share for ideas.

If you want a sidesaddle shell holder that won;t get in your way if you shoot left handed, your best bet may be to get one that mounts on the receiver.
