    AR optic mount...

I have a red dot optic that I'm trying to mount on my AR. Basically, I need a 1/2 riser to get my optic to a proper height to cowitness with my iron sights.

The ones I have seen are the proper height, but they're usually too short or way too long. I need my riser to be 2" long, or as close to it as possible.

That riser you linked is only 1 1/4" long. I need one that I can mount my 2" optic to.

I have checked out Bravo Company, they don't have anything that will work. Here's the closest thing that Yankee Hill makes, only, i need a straight riser, not an angled mount... but this one is the proper length.

Acually, I looked a little closer at Yankee Hill's site... maybe this one will work. its not intended for what I am setting up, but I can just mount it farther back on the rail.

Or you can get two risers and put them together...

I'm surprised there aren't 2" long 1/2" risers out there

I'd rather not have a bubblegum setup with risers stacked on top of each other.

I'm surprised they are hard to find as well... although I haven't peered through every dark corner of the internet, I've looked around quite a bit and haven't found any yet.

Which RDS are you using? If it has a mount similar to an Aimpoint, some of the Daniel Defense or LaRue mounts might work for you.

Your problem is a bit unusual... more commonly, the struggle is to get the optic mounted lower to get even a lower-third cowitness.

You might consider a different set of irons (or rear, if the front is fixed) as an alternative solution... depends on your level of investment and if the irons are there just for backup.

Also, you can always cut down a riser that's too long... it's just aluminum. A little flat black paint and you're in business.

The optic that I am trying to use is a Truglo Tru Point open red dot sight...

Its propably not the most ideal red dot to use as a primary optic, but I picked it up unused for quite cheap, and I figure I'll try to implement it until I can invest in something really nice.

The reason I am trying to elevate the red dot is, its quite a small optic. This picture makes it look larger than it is, but its length is 2", so you can imagine, its only roughly 1" in overall height... if not slightly less.

Currently, I have a quick release front and rear iron sights that are sitting on a flat top rail, and ideally, I'd like to swap out the rear for a flip down unit. I don't mind having the front sight in place while trying to use the red dot, but I'd like to be able to drop the rear out of the way.
