    For a HD rifle, I bought a Marlin lever action carbine in .357 Magnum. I already have plenty of 38 and 357 ammo (due to having two of each in handguns) and it is very accurate and potent at HD ranges. I'd leave the long-range rifle as it is and pick up something cheap to trick out or get an AR chambered in 22lr with hi cap magazines. You can send a lot of 22lr lead down range in one of those in a hurry and can afford to have fun shooting it at the range.

    THANKS GUYS! I deserved that a**chewing. My rifle will not be cut,but a new stock is not out of the question. As for not shooting it, I didn't take to deer hunting like I thought I would,therefore the 70 became a low-mileage closet dweller. The pistol-caliber Marlin sounds like a good idea to supplement the 870, the wifey,in a pinch, could probably handle that better anyway. Again thanks for excellent advice!

    I mean at worst if your not using it SELL/TRADE it and get something you know you would use. ive done that to several guns I had gotten and then not really used for what I thought id use them for...now im finally weeding them down to guns I have a use for or loike to shoot not any extras that just take up space and waste my $$ I could be using on something I like.
