As said in title, is this a real paratrooper?

The stock has been hand rubbed with dark stain but everything is original and all numbers match.
numbers are stamped on the bolt, trigger guard, magazine, rifle frame,.

IMO...I thought the bayonet lug was cut off the Paratrooper models, and those models were also modified to accept standard AK magazines. I could be wrong. Norinco...the Chinese.....etc.... Lots of copies of this or that. As for an original Paratrooper model SKS? I think you'll need to do more searching like on an SKS board. I dabbled in them, but didn't get into them as much as the AKs which I prefer. Someone may have the answer for you here, and I wish I could help you more. Check here for more info...it's more than what I'm willing to decipher at this point in order to give you a definitive answer here.

Good luck with it. Post back here when you know so we can all become more educated.

    Lets see here.......

The pictured SKS looks to be a typical chinese commercial production rifle although the bayonet is missing it may or may not have ever had one. If the barrel is a 16" then it is a paratrooper barrel. The paratrooper model I have seen had a Blond stock with spike bayonet.

Ram Rod I believe you are thinking of the SKS-M which took AKM (AK-47) magazines, had a 16" paratrooper barrel and no bayonet lug
Norinco did make an SKS M and D model that accepted modified AK-47 magazines and had no bolt lock open feature but these I believe are difficult to find. The M models had no bayonet lug at all and the D I believe had the spike bayonet.
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Sorry, it does have a blunt tip spike bayonet but not pictured and the stock was a blondish color before it was sanded and stained in dark. The bolt does lock back and has a stripper clip slot.

It appears to be the real deal.

With that being said, years ago Century Arms modified some standard Norincos to the Paratrooper Configuration and they sold well. They also modified the mag wells on some of them to accept the AK mags.

If it says Century Arms on it, it may be a cutdown.

I had what appeared to be a paratrooper model with a short little blade bayonet...traded to a friend a bit ago, don't have any pictures.

It was a Norinco, though, with blonde wood; it had the standard 10-rd magazine, but also the guy I bought it from had several 30 rounders.
