Pray tell, what is "Remington .308" for which you reported you bought 45 rounds???

There's a .308 Winchester... which most of us know and love as simply ".308" - but I have never, ever heard of a .308 Remington round.

No prob... that was my weak attempt at humor at the end of my long day, but I overcooked it.

Enjoy your new piece... and look into some training with it. Thunder Ranch and Storm Mountain come to mind ; a friend is headed to SM this weekend for their long-range class with his new Rem 700 5R. Perhaps a dilettante pursuit as he's well past the half-century mark, but hey, you never know when those skills might be useful.

I've had a 700 ADL .30-06 since the mid '70s and it's been a great rifle. It's pretty much retired now, living in FL and nowhere to hunt. But it's never had any issues, taken down everything from ground squirrels (yeah, overkill) to moose and is deadly accurate with my handloads. I wouldn't hesitate to use any 700, and I'm sure you'll be happy with yours.
