I will go with the .223 caliber version and modify it mildly since Connecticut's assult weapons laws are fairly restrictive.

Just got my Saiga 5.45 today got a chance to shoot 10 rounds through it and already like it better than the Century build.

If everything goes right tomorrow will do the conversion on it.

I don't think you will be sorry if and when you buy your Saiga. Caliber doesn't matter as you'll probably end up with more than one.

I'm already thinking of which will be my nest one. Will it be a .308, .223 or a 7.62? Doesn't matter think they will all find there way to me, LOL.

You know what I may just get a 5.45 or 7.62X39 Saiga and just gather parts for a conversion and have that done at a later date or what ever....its not like I cant shoot it and have fun with it NOW lol... What do you guys think 7.62X39 or 5.45 ?? and do you guys have any links for them cheap??? right now someplace has them on sale at around $315.......but they were sold out of 5.45 but had the 7.62X39.....Oh and are the holes already there for the conversion????(of the FCG on the AK type install)

Now Zero there is likely a 12 step program for this kind of illness.....

I think I am getting a strange feeling myself. Very nice Saiga line up you have going!

    Thanks for complement pirate.

Your getting a strange feeling huh? Be careful, most can't stop at just one once you start.

No 12 step for me yet, heck I'm just getting started. Would like to pick up a .223 and .308 still.

The collection started when I found a good deal on a second 7.62 and pitched the "his and hers" AK to the other half...then the S12's. Wonder how far I can ride that reason.

    CB,

My Saiga 5.45 had all the required holes for the grip conversion. I believe the 7.62x39 and .223 have the holes also. The surplus ammo is cheaper for 5.45 but if you buy Wolf or the like from what I see it is the same cost. I'll eventually get one in 7.62x39 also.

LOL, nope never happen to me.

Pirate you have a very good collection of AK type rifles and others. Zero you've got a great start on the Saiga's. I think I see 2-12's, a 5.45, 7.62 and a .223. And is that a .308?

Can't make up my mind what I want next , but am leaning toward a 7.62.

    Just two 12's, two 7.62's and a 5.45...so far.

When I snapped the pic my wife said "we only have five saigas?" I kind of took that as a good sign.

LOL, that is a really good sign. I'd of been like yeah we need to get you a 5.45 also, so it will be even and we still haven't got those .223 models, ya know the ones that shoot the same ammo as our military does..

Or that would be my reply.

I just wish you could find a Single shot or Bolt gun in 5.45. That would be a interesting sidekick to the semi's.

Already done that. It just takes time and cash flow.

She did like shooting the 5.45 the other day and did very well with it.

I think I would do a .223 next (for the moment).

    I love my Saiga .223.

I have always been a big fan of the AK platform for toughness and reliability, but much prefer the .223/5.56 round for increased carry capacity and effect.

IMO, the Saiga .223 is the best of both worlds.

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.
