I'm going to violate the principle of your post.

I use the Trijicon Reflex II and it's phenominal. Shots out to 400 yards are spot on--past that with a little hold over. It uses no batteries, and is usable as a night sight (fiber optic with tritium back up)

Yes, it's $300. When you mount it you'll know why. It's ROCK solid, rugged as hell, with positive adjustments that STAY ZEROED.

Now, it does have a problem with wash. If you're shooting from indoors to a target in bright sunlight the triangle washes out and you have to work to see it. I use HK back up iron sights.

Other than that--holy snappin bumholes, Batman, that thing is the schizzle. I have 4 mounted on 4 guns, including a Benelli M1 Tactical and an 1100 Special field for slug deer hunting.

The sight is small, light, and TOUGH. Save your pennies, it'll do ya for a life time.

Where you finding it for $300? With the mounting base the cheapest I have found online is well over $400 for the Trijicon Reflex II.

Any other suggestions? Like i said, i would prefer a reflex but I'm starting to get the picture that the tube style is probably better quality at this price range.

Primary arms is what I would suggest too.

Tube style optics are better quality at the top end of the price range as well.

I've got a Vortex StrikeFire mounted on my 6.8mm Masterpiece Arms Rifle.

It's a decent scope for the price, somewhere in between low end and high end, but it mounts solidly and I can shoot right around 2-3 MOA pretty reliable through this rig.

I plan on hunting with this in the upcoming season, especially now that Georgia allows suppressors for hunting use.

^^^This is my set up. It is the best way I've found to cowitness an AK.

And here is the gas tube replacement:

This is not a EOTWAWKI, full auto, sustained fire, zombi mower set up. The gas tube rail will get hot and could affect your optic electronics. I haven't had any trouble with lots of range fun. Just be sure to let it cool while you enjoy other guns!

I was gonna say! lol! Since you chimed in, I agree the trs-25 has proven itself since the post started 4 years ago. The trs-25 is no slouch and it will do the job on both AR's and AK's. My only beef was they were tinted more than the aimpoints. I just bought another one and the glass is much clearer with not much tint. So they have been improving them.

I believe the only reason the aimpoint still cost so much is the military contracts. Take those away and I bet the aimpoint would run $250 in the free market.
