What in specific are you referring to as "goodies".

Barrels, stocks, foregrips?

The primary goodie I most commonly recommend to HD purposed buyers is to go to Wal-Mart or Dick's and buy several boxes (like 4 minimum) of shells and actually fire the gun to both break it in and function check it...As well as to Develop mental memory for the guns operating system as well as it's heft.
Run some drills including not just firing it but actually loading it from dry and topping it off with a round chambered.

After that any other goodies, aside from a youth stock for those who can't fit the gun properly, are purely cosmetic.

Point, pull the trigger...Eject and re-chamber immediately! <Novice users forget to do this with pump shotguns when under stress>...And reassess for target(s) threat level.

Go to the range to train, and run the gun hard, as that's where all the goodies are at.

Heat shields are a waste of coin.

Nobody fires a shotgun of any sort muchless a HD shotgun enough to warrant the expense or effort of install.
For military users it's applicable as related to carry and storage toward handling such guns after use during egree/ingress in the cramped quarters of a troop transport/vehicle.

No HD owner, nor hunter, would have reason to touch a shotguns barrel muchless shoot it with enough duration (time) to result in the barrel getting so hot that it could be a burn hazzard.

Folding stocks are for same purpose, allowing compact storage in cramped quarters as well as easier/faster deployment upon egress/ingress of cramped spaces as typically found in a transport vehicle.
