If you had the aforementioned grand burning a hole in your pocket, would you buy an AR or an AK + ammo?

I have an AR but not exactly configured the way I want it, I'd probably get an AK (a good one) just to have one.

I'm right there with ya on that decision. I'm leaning towards the AR because replacement parts abound and .223 is available just about everywhere I go.

Of course, the AK is cheaper and shoots a meaner round. You can also always bulk-order ammo online as well.

Honestly, I'll probably eventually get both, but plan on sporting something chambered in 5.56 by the end of the summer.

As i have two AK74's I'd get a AR. I've always wanted one, so guess i'd finally get one with the grand.

I'd go for some spendy optics for the existing AR.

I would buy a Saiga 12 gage shotgun and convert it to look exactly like an AK.
I would buy several 10 or 12 round magazines, maybe a 20 round drum, put a Polychoke on it, chop the barrel back, silver solder the Polychoke on it and make it no longer than 18 inches.

It would be one bad looking, fast reloading shotgun. When the world as we know it comes apart, it might be a good thing to have.

I wish!!! There's so many other things that would get priority first :(

If I had neither, I'd get the AR. It's America's rifle.

Got two ARs already, might go for the AK and optics for an AR.

AK-74 with plenty of magazines and 4 spam cans of 5.45x39 ammo (4320 rounds).

Tactical Response Fighting Rifle Class $400
    1500 7.62x39mm & 500 handgun ammo $375
    Used SKS $225

^^^^^^^^I am in this camp on this one^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Although a FAL may run you over the $1000 a bit, I would definitely spend it for that rifle.
It Blows all the others out of the water , in that $ range.
