I'm a Rem fan also. Bought my .30-06 700 ADL in '75 and never looked back. Almost got it in .308, but the .308 is more limited in bullet weight than the -06. Balistically, they are pretty close. I reload, so I can "tune" my rounds to suit my rifle perfectly.
I tried the "light weight" rifle bit. Took well over a pound off the ADL. It kicked my teeth out. Hated shooting it. Glass bedded it and added all the weigh back. Now it's good for a whole day at the range. It carried all over the hills of WA and AK as well as any "Lightweight" rifle. Invest in a good carry strap; forget the extra lb.
Many good brands out there, none of which would I kick out of bed--except on opening morning!
